Grief podcasts worth a listen

These are eight podcasts where people talk about someone they lost. Hearing someone else say it out loud can help. Put one on in the car, on a walk, or in the small hours when you can’t sleep.

The podcasts

  1. 01
    Shapes of GriefIE
Liz Gleeson is an Irish grief therapist. Her conversations are gentle, and they make grief feel less strange and less lonely.
  2. 02
    Family Flowers OnlyIE
Grief Ireland makes it. Kathie Stritch started it after losing her sister.
  3. 03
    Parting WordsIE
RIP.ie makes this one. Well-known Irish people talk about someone they have lost.
  4. 04
    Grief EncountersIE
Venetia Quick and Sasha Hamrogue are friends who each lost someone, and they talk openly about death.
  5. 05
    Death Becomes HimIE
Brian Dowling made it after losing his mum, Rosie. There’s warmth and humour in it as well as the hard parts.
  6. 06
    How to Fall ApartIE
Liadan Hynes talks to people about putting their life back together after it came apart. For some of them, grief is what broke it.
  7. 07
    Griefcast
Cariad Lloyd is warm and often funny.
  8. 08
    What's Your Grief
Eleanor Haley and Litsa Williams are grief professionals, and they explain grief in plain words.

Keep the stories about the person you lost

Listening to other people talk about their person can make you want to hold on to yours. Your mum’s sister knows stories about her that nobody else does. Somebody remembers exactly how your dad told that one joke.

With Chorus, everyone who loved the person records a short story about them from their own phone. It becomes one book the family can hear, read and hold. There’s no rush. The book stays open until you close it.
